Think About It Thursday

Think About It Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel at 1001 Books. Each week she will post a bookish related question for us to ponder and answer if we can.

This weeks question:

Is there a specific time period you enjoy reading about more than others? Medieval, turn of the century, great depression, contemporary, futuristic? What time frame floats your boat?

This one is relatively easy for me and my answer is similar to Rachel's. I love, love, love reading books related to the Tudors! Earlier this year I participate in the Tudor Mania Challenge host by Marie at The Burton Review and tied for first place for reading 5 Tudor related books from May-July. I actually started the challenge late, and read all 5 in June and July. I loved every minute of it. Through my Tudor reading I have found a love for books and stories about Richard III and the Princes in the Tower. It is a fascinating era and the mystery surrounding the Princes has developed into some very intriguing tales. I loved Robin Maxwell's To The Tower Born, which has amazing plot twists. Richard III often gets a bad rap, but I read A Rose for the Crown by Anne Easter Smith and it shows him in a completely different light AND it's a beautiful love story! It is my #1 recommendation if you enjoy that time period. I also enjoy books about the Holocaust, Early African American short stories and writing, and Early Women's Literature.

Okay, I'm off to explore the other ladies of Think About It Thursday! I hope you check them out too!

  1. Yay for another Tudor fan! It's hard to not get sucked into that period. Henry VIII is just such a fascinating individual and Elizabeth I is just fantastic.

Thanks for stopping by and for participating.

  2. Thanks for stopping by and reading my Think About it Thursday Post on early 20th century lit. After reading yours I'll have to check out some of these titles form the Tudor era, an era I almost never delved into in popular fiction.
